In the studio

Shibori

Shibori is an ancient resist dye technique to create patterns on natural fibre. The Japanese word shibori comes from the verb root “shiboru” – “to wring, squeeze or press”. There are many ways to resist dye from simple folds to complex stitched bindings. The meditative process of stitching and binding the resists rises to meet the anticipation and magic of what might emerge from the indigo vat.
